Claire Danes is Gucci’s New Girl

Gucci has confirmed Stardust star Claire Danes as the new face its new fine jewelry campaign.

Claire Danes is new face of Gucci jewelryTo be frank, I fell in love with Claire with Brokedown Palace (1999) and haven’t since missed a single opportunity to see her in a news show or in a movie… and now to see her in Gucci jewelry! Hmm… that ought to make Zahraine jealous.

Claire, now 29, will dazzle in a series of print campaigns for the Italian fashion house, taking over from Drew Barrymore, who acted as the spokesperson for the brand the last two years.

“Claire Danes is a modern icon. For me she is one of the most interesting young actresses on the international scene,” Gucci creative director Frida Giannini told fashionweekdaily.com. “She is very natural, fresh, and has a carefree attitude which can also be seen in the roles she has chosen. Claire’s sensual, confident beauty and her passionate, independent and strong character embodies today’s Gucci woman.”

And this is what Claire had to say: “I am thrilled and honored to be working with Gucci on their jewelry campaign. Frida is a very inspiring and creative woman. Her vision is extraordinary and I am excited to be a part of it.”

And oh, for Claire’s fans just like me, she recently finished filming her star role in Richard Linklater’s “Me and Orson Welles” in the UK. Wink.

Carly Zucker’s Havin’ a Mars’ Ball

Carly Zucker – girlfriend of Chelsea and England football ace Joe Cole - has teamed up with chocolate firm MARS in a bid to get more young people to play football in the UK.

MARS is giving away 100,000 balls on-pack, online, at events, in-store and competitions. And only this morning Carly, 24, helped kicked off the campaign by squeezing herself out a limo – filled with Mars’ footballs.

In what’s been talked about as a £7million campaign, MARS is also giving away 1,000 free hours of football pitches at 5-a-side centers across the UK and the MARS Stadium at Grass Roots Football LIVE is where all the best football action will be, from celebrity five-a-side games, soccer skills demonstrations and a host of other footballing fun.

Carla Bruni is the New Face of Ginsters

First lady of France Carla Bruni, wife of President Nicolas Sarkozy, has signed up to add a touch of class to the Cornish company’s savoury treats of bakes, pastries and spicy tortilla wraps.

The former supermodel and singer will be featured in a commercial where she’s driving down the A34 and she wants a Ploughman’s Roll and Buffet Bar–no matter what. She pulls into a convenience store at a gas station and tears the wrapper off a Bar and hogs it like there’s no tomorrow.

Check out the commercial to see what she does when a staff member approaches… or ask me ;) The commercial closes with the line, ‘Imagine Smearing a Cheese and Onion Slice Across Carla Bruni’s Bum’.

“Whenever Nicolas and I travel to meet foreign heads of state, I always ensure ze fridge on our official plane is stocked with at least two dozen Mexican Spicy Chicken Pasties. I eat zem cold,” said Bruni. She added: “I have to admit zat when I attended ze official banquet at Buckingham Palace I could not finish my dinner because I had spent all afternoon is ze bath with a copy of TV Quick and an enormous pile of scotch eggs.”

Meanwhile what’s this I hear about Bruni replacing Coleen McLoughlin as the ambassador for Asda? Especially since McLoughlin’s £3 million-two-year contract with the supermarket ended last month.

The ads are set to run in Grazia and a number of other women’s glossies. And, of course, Uniqlo Paper No. 4, the retailer’s in-house publication, will carry all the ads for the collection of about 700 T-shirt designs celebrating Uniqlo’s contribution towards “credible youth culture”.

Representing “the ultimate in self-expression”, Sevigny, 33, was did a photo soot alongside Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano to promote the UT’s T-shirts, said to be priced at priced around $26.

FHM Girl Megan Fox Goes Topless

Well we all knew it was bound to happen–sooner rather than later. Why not sooner? We all kept our fingers and frozen toes crossed — we all wanted to see Megan Fox topless, to begin with, at the least. (If you’ve seen her walking in “The Transformers”, you’ll know what I’m talking about.)

Kinda surprised she’s an FHM brand girl now. Megan’s now featured in the comedy/horror “Jennifer’s Body”, where she plays a cheerleader who’s merely possessed by a demon (no, no, not Leonardo di Caprio) who just feels like feeding off her boyfriends or something.

Oh well. I just think Megan has done a big favor to the celebrity branding world. Thanks Megan!

No Season For Swimwear

I was once again in Santa Cruz last week, and this time, Zahraine joined me driving around the curvy terrain leading down to the beach. She was dressed in a two-piece suit, and well, it’s not summer yet. After driving around looking for a tavern, and after a couple of minutes of introspection, I asked her what her dress meant since we didn’t plan on getting into the waters. She laughed, and exclaimed “Swimwear! Duh”! and ran off into the beer bar.

That made sense actually, using a generic term for something most of reserve for the summer wardrobe. Come to think of it, whether you call them bathing suits or one piece swimsuits or bikinis or tankinis, a swimsuit, it’s still versatile in more ways than one.

Swimsuits for all

It helps you decide when it’s too hot to wear anything else, or even if you all you want to do is just tan. Well, of course, you don’t really have to swim either. One piece swimsuits can make you totally comfortable whether you’re in the water or serving barbeque.

Consider adding a skirt or a pareo for times when you need just a little more coverage, or add a cover-up or board shorts when you feel like kicking sand or joining that game of beach volleyball. Swimsuits are flexible, all purpose beachwear.

I’d say swimsuits are the greatest invention next to the bread slicer. Then again, perhaps it’s a matter of timing.. huh.

I’ve been running this blog with an ear to the ground for over a year now, and if there’s one thing I can say for sure, it’s this: What the Hollywood stars or international celebrities wear is what makes the hottest list–whether diamonds, sunglasses, or diamond jewelry. Celebrity brands are hot with the public, and Paris Hilton is the undeniable queen of anything “that’s hot.”

Celebrity brands aren’t priced for the every day consumer, but for someone who is hobnobbing with the elite. The stars’ own fashion sense or tastes often dictate the styles created. The brands can rise and fall with the rise and fall of a star’s fortunes, although exactly how an event impacts the brand is not easily foreseen. In some cases, notoriety can even heighten a brand’s popularity, like in the case of P. Diddy’s arrests. So, despite Paris Hilton’s brush with the law, this probably has not put a dent in her ability to draw sales through her celebrity brands.

Reflecting much of Mel’s onstage wardrobe, the Catty Couture line of body-clinging styles are clearly not the faint hearted.

“I’m so excited! It got pulled together quickly, really quickly,” Mel B told People magazine. “To actually see it, yeah, it’s amazing.”

“The high-waisted leather skirt and the jacket that I wore are my favorite pieces. It’s just that you can never go wrong with a leather, black high-waisted skirt. It goes with everything. It makes everything look clean and sexy.”

The Leeds born Spice Girl was joined by husband Stephen Belafonte at the launch.
