South African actress Terry Pheto, who starred in the 2006 Best Foreign Film Oscar-winning movie Tsotsi, is the new spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris.
Pheto was obviously excited with this opportunity and said it was “an honour” to endorse the brand, more so since it promoted ethnic beauty.
“There aren’t many companies that have developed a range especially for African women,” said the 27-year-old newsmaker. “I think branding for me or any actress is essential; the brand and products you are promoting is very important.”
“This is really a great opportunity for me as an actress and a person,” she added. “It is very exciting, I will get to meet talented people like Beyoncé and Jane Fonda, and just to be associated with them is truly a dream come true for me.”
With this Pheto will follow in L’Oreal roster of famous beauties such as beauties like Scarlett Johansson, Halle Berry, Andie McDowell, Aishwarya Rai, Beyonce, Pierce Brosnan, Claudia Schiffer and Jane Fonda.
Pheto is especially proud of “this endorsement deal (which) is history in the making”, since it’s the first time L’Oreal is launching a product unique to dark skins.
Pheto will endorse L’Oreal’s new product aimed at the dark skin – the Even Perfect Skin Care range.

Supermodel Lydia Hearst has posed in a range of retro-style satin and silk lingerie for upscale brand Myla’s Autumn-Winter 2008 collection.
Renowned photographer Ben Hassett has captured Hearst in a typically ’40s retro-Hollywood glamour, dramatic with striking colors and backdrops as the images below speak for themselves.

“I love the way the images turned out,” Hearst told the Daily News. “This season people will be seeing not just my high fashion/couture work, but also a sexier side.”
“I certainly have to give credit to my personal trainer David Kirsch for keeping me in shape and making sure I look good in lingerie,” she added.
Twenty-three-year-old Lydia Marie Hearst-Shaw, heiress to the publishing fortune established by her maternal great-grandfather William Randolph Hearst, was also bestowed the title Model of the Year at the 2007 Michael Awards.
She also partnered with Puma and Heatherette to create a high-end limited edition handbag and is on the brim of releasing a New Holiday Collection and a line of athletic gear. She graced the cover of the Italian edition of Vogue as well as New York Post, for which, incidentally, she’s also a columnist (Page Six Magazine).

Miss Universe 2004 Jennifer Hawkins has made first foray into fashion design with the launch of “Cozi” swimwear in association with Myer of Australia.
Hawkins will also catwalk for her own creations at a fashion parade at Myer’s Sydney City store next month.

The 24-year-old beauty queen talked to The Daily Telegraph about her insatiable urge to tinker with current bikini designs trying to find the perfect bikini.
“I’m in a bikini a lot - I’m working in one,” she said. “I’d see a bikini somewhere, wear it and then want to change it in some way or another, whether it be the color or the feel of it, or the fit. I just wanted to give it my own little touch.”
The Aussie babe said she had kept her girlfriends in mind when designing the range and believed that the sizes and styles in the range suited the tastes of all Australian women. Hawkins’ range includes bikinis and one-pieces in a variety of colors and patterns in sizes 8 to 16, as well as kaftans and cover-ups.
“As Myer’s Ambassador, Jennifer is one of Australia’s favorite personalities,” said Judy Coomber, Myer director of apparel. “Her feminine, fun, sporty, vivacious and down-to-earth qualities as a woman are strongly reflected in the swimwear range she has designed.”

Sean John Underwear has tapped rapper superstar Nelly as their spokesperson for Fall 2008 campaign.
Nelly will model the Sean John underwear and loungewear line which will include briefs, boxer-briefs, boxers, undershirts, pajamas, robes, among other undergarments. The first ads were shot by Randee St. Nicholas and feature Nelly at a modern home overlooking Los Angeles.
“To me, Nelly is the quintessential definition of the Sean John man,” Sean “Diddy” Combs said. “He has the attitude, the swagger and most of all, the physique that our customers can both aspire and relate to. And let’s be honest, all of the ladies out there are going to be thanking us for this campaign. The images are so strong; they speak for themselves.”
“I have been a big fan of Diddy and the Sean John clothing line for years. So, when they asked me to work with them, it was a real honor,” Nelly commented. “I hope my fans will enjoy this campaign as much as I did shooting it.”
With this, Nelly follows in the footsteps of celebrities such as Dwayne Wade, Nas, Snoop Dog, Lil’ Wayne, Penelope Cruz, Cassie, and Lauren London who have modeled for the brand earlier.
This certainly makes Nelly a busy person since he’s also preparing for the September 16th release of his latest album Brass Knuckles.

Australian pop singer-songwriter Kylie Minogue is all set to launch her fourth perfume — Sexy Darling.
After Darling, Sweet Darling and Showtime, it’s now the turn of Sexy Darling, a woody floral, available as Eau de Toilette Glowing Body Lotion. Minogue, 40, worked in close collaboration with Coty on the development of Sexy Darling.

“I firmly believe that sexiness is all to do with your state-of-mind,” says Kylie, who worked in close association with Coty for the development of Sexy Darling. “Some people radiate an inner sense of self-esteem and beauty that’s irresistible.”
“With Sexy Darling I wanted to capture this by creating a fragrance for today’s sexy, self assured woman who is passionate and playful… a woman who is seductive and sensual,” she added. “I’m very excited that Sexy Darling’s fusion of floral and woody notes is a rich, sophisticated fragrance that truly lives up to its name.”
The perfume created for the “modern, sexy, self-confident woman” will be available in stores across the UK tomorrow.

Movado Group Inc., the parent company for Ebel and Movado watches, has published ads for its Beluga watch with Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen.
Renowned photographer Craig McDean shot the 28-year-old model to strir up a sense of femininity, mystery and luxury, and I should say he’s left no bedsheet…. err, no stone unturned to get it right!

The classic Beluga ladies watch, launched by Swiss watchmaker Ebel in 1985, has since seen a complete re-design, with the new designs incorporating a generous use of quality diamonds, mother of pearl and 18-carat gold.
About the £25,000 rose gold Ebel watch, store manager Peter Pendrey said: “This is a luxury timepiece that will appeal to people, who appreciate exceptional craftsmanship and fine diamonds.
“The Beluga is designed specially for women, so it is appropriate to have one of the world’s most beautiful women heading the campaign.”
Bundchen, the highest paid model in the world, will appear in Ebel’s posters and fashion and lifestyle magazines this fall.

Wannabe style icon Pixie Geldof is moving up the fashion struts–she has allegedly signed an £80,000 ($160,000) contract with high-street store New Look to design and model her own fashion line.
Sir Bob Geldof’s daughter Pixie is obviously following in the lines of the New Look deal signed by Lily Allen last year, though industry sources opine that Pixie will get a hotter response that what Allen received.
“She is a stunning girl and intrinsically fashionable. She dresses totally uniquely and in a quirky, fun way,” the source said. “Money can’t buy you style but Pixie flaunts hers effortlessly. She’s a brilliant role model for young fashionistas.”
The 17-year-old London socialite will design an eight-piece fashion line, according to Britain’s Daily Mirror.

“The O.C.” hottie Rachel Bilson proves her versatility–actor, designer and now model for her own line Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans.
The chic ad for Bilson’s 15-piece sportswear is shot against a New York backdrop and the “Jumper” actress appears along with models, Fabienne Vanderhaeghen, Regina Feoktistova and Giedre Dukaskaitein. Edie Rose for DKNY features mainly button-down tops, sweaters, jackets, T-shirts, dresses and straight leg and skinny leg jeans.

The 26-year-old star has apparently lent a very personal touch to the designs, according to Kevin Monogue, president, DKNY Jeans.
“Our customer has a real emotional connection with Rachel, and she’s always on the best-dressed lists, so it seemed like such a win-win for us,” he said. “Rachel has real personal style and she is very involved in every step. You can really see that in the collection.”
The ads will run in Teen Vogue and Cosmogirl magazines in time for back-to-school, and will be sold at high-end stores including Macy’s and Dillard’s.
