Lately, every other person I meet appears all set to meet an impending doom. Is it the sluggish global economy? Or the threat of climate change? Whatever it is, it’s now time to look at the brighter side of life — and what better way to do it in other than some of hippiest T-shirts available?

People can now access racy images of actress-model Kelly Brook by scanning a 2-D QR bar code on every can of Pepsi Max.
The beverages giant is the first brand to launch the Quick Response (QR) technology — a new kind of two dimensional barcode from Japan, which lets access to Kelly’s images from their mobile phones — allowing Pepsi MAX lovers to link directly to the Internet from their phones.

“As the public becomes more familiar with the codes, we will be looking to create further opportunities for utilizing them in talking to our consumers,” Pepsi Max stated recently. Its obviously the company’s idea to “give something back – to engage and excite – its consumers.”
“QR technology really is the future – it’s a great way of getting games, comedy, images and virals from Pepsi Max on your mobile – any time anywhere,” said Brook, 29. “I had great fun on the set of this shoot – it’s a new look for me and quite a departure from my normal classic retro style.”
“I really loved some of these crazy futuristic outfits though – and wanted to take them home!” she added.

Hollywood actress Elizabeth Banks has signed up to represent L’Oréal Paris as its latest spokesperson in campaigns starting February.

According to sources, the multi-year deal is estimated to be worth about $1 million a year to the highly sought after 34-year-old star.
“I am so honored be the newest L’Oreal Paris spokesperson and to join such a distinguished group of women who proudly say the iconic phrase ‘Because You’re Worth It,’” said Banks. “What impresses me most about L’Oreal is the company’s commitment to empowering women. L’Oreal wants women everywhere to not only take charge of their beauty, but to also take control of their health and well being.”
We saw Banks in four films this year — “W,” “Zach and Miri Make a Porno,” “Role Models” and “Meet Dave.” Slated for early 2009, Banks will appear in “The Uninvited” and “Lovely Still.”

Celebrity glamor model and actress Pamela Anderson has been signed up as the new face of fashion designer Vivienne Westwood’s spring campaign.
Anderson, 41, probably clinched the deal at Westwood’s Red Label show in London last September, where she catwalked in a gold lurex dress. “At a meeting backstage after the show, Westwood thought Pamela looked stunning in her clothes,” a Westwood spokesperson said.
“When thinking of casting her next campaign, she immediately thought of Pamela and called her to ask if she would be interested. Pamela agreed on the spot,” he added.
The campaign, shot by Juergen Teller, allegedly stars not just Pamela but also Vivienne and her husband Andreas Kronthaler. The setting is Pamela’s Malibu trailer and features items from all of Vivienne’s clothing lines including Gold, Red, Anglomania and MAN.
We may have to wait a few weeks before we see the former Baywatch babe in ads worldwide. They also be published as a coffee table book by Steidl.

German model Julia Stegner is set to represent wheels and vogues at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin 2009.
This will be Stegner’s first appearance as the fashion brand-ambassador at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Autumn/Winter 2009, scheduled to go on show between January 28 and February 1, 2009.

In the photo shoot above, Stegner, 24, posed together with the Mercedes-Benz CLS 350 CGI Grand Edition in Anne Valerie Hash creations.
“With Julia Stegner as brand ambassador, we have given our long-term, international fashion activities a fascinating and world-famous face,” says Anders Sundt Jensen, VP, Brand Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars. “She particularly represents the connection between German origin and international flair. That’s why in our key visual we have consciously placed Julia Stegner together with the new Mercedes-Benz CLS Grand Edition, which will be launched on the market in March 2009.”
And Stegner, who looked triple hot in the 2005 Pirelli calendar, thinks Mercedes-Benz and fashion blend well. “I think Mercedes-Benz cars are chic – just like fashion,” she says. “I’m very much looking forward to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. Berlin is such a vibrant city. I really like to be there.”
And you’d expect her to be there driving a Mercedes-Benz, right? Wrong.
Word goes that she usually rides a bicycle to work.
