Singer-actor Hilary Duff has announced a design partnership with international fashion brand DKNY to produce signature rocker-chic pieces for the Femme for DKNY Jeans collection.

“I took time finding the right fashion house to collaborate with in a design partnership,” said Duff, 21. “I have always adored and worn DKNY jeans, so it made perfect sense to reach out to them.”
“We hit it off immediately, sharing a design vision offering something special for young women like me,” the Lizzie McGuire star added.
The collection is said to mix rocker chic with a soft touch, featuring innovative ideas, unexpected details and multiple functions, with each piece unique and designed to make a statement. The denim line also reflects the multi-platinum singer’s love of feminine elements like poppies, sequins, and shine, mixing them with with tougher vinyl, menswear fabrics and motorcycle details.
The retail price range for the collection set for an August 2009 launch is $39 for a tee to $129 for an outerwear piece.

DKNY lovers will recall that Jumper star Rachel Bilson modeled for her own DKNY denim line in July 2008.

Paraguayan athlete Leryn Franco has signed up with Nike to be the face of a campaign advertising signature sportswear.

According to Paraguayan newspaper ABC Color, “In February 2009, Nike launched the campaign in Europe as Leryn image, so that the Paraguayan is shown on all the brand stores and in magazines.”
The 26-year-old sportswoman, who was runner-up Miss Paraguay 2006, specializes in javelin throw, with a personal best throw at 55.38 meters. Franco did participate in the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, but finished 51st overall, throwing 15 meters short of her best record.
Okay, she didn’t win a medal, but who cares? I don’t, and apparently neither does Nike.
Do I have a single picture of Franco throwing javelin here?
