Ever wonder what Hayden Panettiere has always been up to with that famous ‘half-smile’ of hers? The Heroes star has revealed it all in the August issue of Details magazine.

The 19-year-old “I Love You, Beth Cooper” (released a couple days ago), girl says the half-smile is ’survival kit’.

As the story goes, Hayden opened out when a couple of Jewish tourists wanted to photograph her at an LA restaurant. Apparently, Hayden was the first celebrity they met, so… hey, they wanted a picture. Which, of course, Hayden was kind enough to give them.

To quote Details:

“Thank you so much. Thank you. I’m sorry,” they say as they (Jewish men) back out of the restaurant, already reviewing the images on the camera.

“I gave them a half-smile,” she (Hayden) says matter-of-factly. “It’s a survival skill.”

So what gives?

Well, that’s Hayden’s explanation. But while most Hayden fans would be familiar with that ‘half-smile’, I still wonder what it means. Then again, I’m only a ‘half-fan’ of hers, as well.

What’s the intrigue about that half smile? What do you think? Something to do with ‘mean girls’?
