Ford, Tom Ford, will be dressing Bond, James Bond in ‘Quantum of Solace’.
LA Times has reported that Ford confirmed the news yesterday in Italy, where the former creative director of Gucci and YSL is opening a new menswear store in Milan’s ‘Golden Triangle’ shopping district.

“It’s a terrific representation for us,” said Ford. “A lot of people think if you wear conservative clothing your life is dull and uninteresting. But James Bond is this character who is sophisticated yet he sleeps with three girls at once and (has a car) with parachutes coming out of it. His life is very interesting, so I thought it was a good fit.”
Ford teamed up with the film’s costume designer, Louise Frogley, to create made-to-measure suits, shirts, knitwear, ties and his own take on 007’s signature tuxedo, in navy blue.
“We made about 420 pieces for 11 costume changes,” Ford said. “For each scene we made three suits that were perfect, three suits that were bloodied and blown up, three suits that were bloodied, blown up and had been in a pool — and then we had to make most of those different permutations for the stunt men as well.”
“He (Craig) is the best Bond since Sean Connery. He’s a terrific guy to dress and he’s pretty powerful with what he wears,” Ford, 46, added.

So was it a challenge to dress up Daniel Craig as Bond? Apparently it was not.
“Their tastes are very similar,” Ford commented. “Daniel knows himself really well and he likes to keep it very, very, very, very simple. For example, it’s hard to get him to wear diamond studs with a tuxedo. He prefers buttons.”

Appears “Mean Girls” star Lindsay Lohan is not so mean after all–she’s lending her name and fame in support of this year’s Visa Swap, which works in association with clothing charity TRAID (Textile Recycling for Aid and International Development).
Visa Swap encourages the fashion conscious people to swap their old designer clothes and exchange them for redeemable points on a Visa credit card. Allegedly, the more exclusive and more unique the apparel, the more credit the person will receive.
“I am so excited to be involved with this year’s Visa Swap event. The concept of swapping clothes, getting something for nothing and refreshing your wardrobe appeals to everyone,” Lindsay said. “Ethical stories continue to dominate the news agenda and it’s great when fashion projects benefit charities.”
“I had such a great time at the Visa Swap campaign shoot, the clothes I wore were all vintage designer pieces which you just don’t see every day!” she added. Obviously, Lindsay was quick to see the style perks that come with the campaign.
The swap takes place in London’s Covent Gardens. According to bittenandbound.com, Lindsay, who has fronted international campaigns for fashion brands such as Miu Miu, Versace, Jill Stuart and Donna Karen, has already donated an Issa dress, two pairs of Jimmy Choo heels and a Miu Miu bag.

This should have happened like 2,000 years ago. I’ve been waiting. Anyway, Katie Holmes is finally inspired by her two-year-old daughter Suri to team up with Armani to launch an apparel collection for toddlers.
OK! Magazine has reported that Katie’s first collection will be out as early as Spring 2009. Suri donned a polka dot dress designed by Holmes last year.
“The Katie Holmes for Armani collection will be comparable in price to the Armani ready-to-wear line,” an industry source said. “It will be sold in stores like Saks, Barneys New York and Neiman Marcus. We’re talking very upscale: less expensive than Armani Privé but more than Armani Exchange. These are going to be very high-quality clothes. We’re not talking cheesy Jessica Simpson stuff.”
Saks, Barney’s New York and Neiman Marcus are some of the names expected to be carrying this hot new label, expected to be priced in the Armani ready-to-wear lines. This should be shocking, since Giorgio and the Cruises are close friends. Tom and Katie even wore Armani on their wedding day.
