Kidman True to Chanel

Nicole Kidman won an apology and ’substantial’ damages from the Daily Telegraph over an article that falsely claimed that the face of Chanel No 5 had promoted a rival brand.

Nicole Kidman: Chanel No 5The Hawaii-born Australian actress had sued the British newspaper last month over the story which said she’d been openly publicizing perfume Jo Malone, despite having signed a multimillion pound contract with Chanel.

The newspaper has apologized and agreed to pay Kidman’s legal costs as well as undisclosed damages.

The 40-year-old Oscar winner was not at the High Court in London for the settlement. Her lawyer John Kelly told London’s High Court that the article suggested she had acted in an ‘unprofessional and disloyal manner’ by brazenly snubbing Chanel, and indicating she could not be trusted to honor her contractual agreements.

He said Telegraph Media Group Ltd now accepted the allegations were untrue and had established that the source of the article had invented the story.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph’s David Price, told the court that the paper “accepts the allegations are untrue and ought never to have been published”.

Kelly said that Kidman is intending to donate the damages to the United Nations Development Fund for Women for which she acts as a goodwill ambassador. It may be recalled that Kidman headed a UN global campaign last month aimed at stopping violence against women.

Petra’s Possibilities

Swimsuit model. Writer. Activist. TV show host and vegan–Petra Nemcova is now testing other possibilities.

Petra Nemcova’s PossibilitiesSupermodel Petra Nemcova recently promoted the new Ann Taylor women’s scent labelled “Possibilities.” The Czech model, who recently replaced Gemma Atkinson as the face of La Senza lingerie, launched the new floral fragrance at the Fifth Avenue Ann Taylor shop while meeting and greeting fans.

Ann Taylor is set to give $2 from each purchase to Nemcova’s own charity, the Happy Hearts Fund, started in 2005 to help children affected by natural disasters.

Now, isn’t that heart-warming for the festive season? Wonder if Gemma has anything to say about that.

Victoria Beckham to Get Nude for Skin Cancer Cause

Spice Girls star Victoria Beckham is set to bare all for fashion designer Marc Jacobs in a new T-shirt range for his skin cancer charity.

Victoria BeckhamBut for Jacobs, 44, it didn’t come easy. He had to do some convincing to get Victoria, 33, to agree to strip for his 2008 Spring/Summer collection. A source close to ‘Posh Spice’ said:

“Victoria loves Marc’s work but she wasn’t entirely comfortable with getting naked.

“Marc went all-out to persuade her. And when she heard about what a great cause it was she knew she just couldn’t turn it down. The picture she and Marc have chosen is amazing - sexy but tasteful.”

As could be expected, this is not the first time Jacobs is getting a celebrity to get naked–Julianne Moore, Dita Von Teese and Naomi Campbell all got naked for his T-shirts in 2006, which reportedly raised about $60,000 for the skin cancer charity. That Victoria’s raunchy pose will take this year’s higher should be safe bet, since the T-shirts are expected to sell for $20 each in Marc’s stores. (The 2006 line of T-shirts sold in the designer’s stores for just $5.)

Victoria Beckham and Marc JacobsConsidered a fashion icon herself, Victoria is a fan of Jacobs’ creations. Recently the British pop superstar was seen at the Victoria’s Secret fashion wearing a Marc Jacobs creation to the pink carpet.

Dakota Fanning, Meg White and Michael Stipe are some of the other celebrities who have endorsed the Marc Jacobs label in the past.

Meanwhile, Victoria and her fellow Spice Girls – Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, and Melanie Chisholm - are set to kick off their reunion tour in Vancouver, Canada tomorrow.

Christina Applegate Nude in Campaign Against Fur

Christina Applegate has stepped out of her way (and her clothes) to convince holiday buyers not to buy fur during the gift giving season.

In support of animal rigts group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the vegetarian actress wears nothing but a pair of festive gloves, a necklace and a smile in an e-card. Her campaign slogan goes, “Cross cruelty off your shopping list by avoiding fur coats, collars and cuffs - unless it’s fake of course.”

Christina Applegate bares all in a PETA campaign against buying fur

Addressing those planning on buying a fur item for a gift, the Sweetest Thing star tells PETA: “They make really great synthetic fur—you really don’t need real fur. And it’s cheaper, so why spend the money?

“The holidays are also a time when people freak out about their finances. If you don’t want to spend the money, why not try some of the other options instead of killing a bunch of animals?”

Christina, who is a vegetarian and animal lover told PEOPLE that her house ‘has been basically a zoo’ since childhood. She said, “Everything I have has dog hair on it, and that’s just the way it is.”

The 35-year-old actress, who’s currently starring in the new hit show ‘Samantha Who?’, also said she decided to become a vegetarian while she was still a teenager on the set of her U.S. TV sitcom, “Married…With Children.”

“I realized I can’t eat something that has been alive. So I stopped, and that was it. That was the last time,” she added.

Christina joins the ranks of Alicia Silverstone, Alyssa Milano, Maggie Q and Dominique Swain in stripping off for the charity movement.

The “Million Dollar Baby” star, 33, has been growing and strengthening her hair by taking vitamins and moisturizing–all for the sake of Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths campaign, which takes donated hair and makes it into wigs for cancer patients.

“I’ve had a lot of people in my life, loved ones and friends who have been devastated by cancer,” Hilary said. “I’m really thankful for my health and I wanted to find a way to give back.”

“Eight percent won’t get their potentially life-saving treatment because they don’t want to lose their hair,” she added. “I thought, ‘Here’s my hair. Cut it off. Save your life!’”

“It’s taken months to get to this moment,” said Winfrey. “It involves a two-time Academy Award winner, a sharp object, and me.”

“So if this talk show-acting-producing stuff for you doesn’t work out, you have a whole new career in haircutting,” Hilary joked after the shear. “We know you can do everything. But really, now you can cut hair like this?”

Now… isn’t that a noble thing to do? To inspire confidence? At any level?

How many of us choose to sacrifice anything for the sake of a stranger… even for monetary gain? I wouldn’t.

All I’m saying is that there are still some people in the world who do that. Only the ones who are so full of life that they can share it with another.
