Katie Stam, who was crowned Miss America 2009 in January will highlight our responsibility for the Earth by promoting natural bioplastic bottles from Nature’s Bottles in a campaign entitled ‘Go Green”.

Apparently, these bottles are made from plants, not petroleum products.
Ingeo – natural plastic is derived from 100 per cent annually renewable resources and is the world’s first biopolymer showing a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, it says on Nature’s Bottles website.
The natural bioplastic bottles can be recycled or composted in commercial composting facilities lessening the impact that plastic has on our planet by not adding to landfill waste, it said.
According to Nature’s Bottles, some 2.5 billion barrels of oil are used for making plastics every year and more than 60 million plastic, petroleum-based water bottles end up in landfills every day.
And that’s almost 40 billion annually, and they will last for centuries. This is going to end, apparently, with eco-friendly bottles of this young and innovative company.
“We are excited to partner with Nature’s Bottles, and promote one of the most important and socially relevant causes that face our future generations,” said Art McMaster, President and CEO of the Miss America Organization.
“We are proud to have Miss America serve as our Go Green spokesperson to promote this message across the globe,” said Doug Ivey, President of Nature’s Bottles, paying tributes to the glamorous 23-year-old beauty queen, who’s “naturally” gorgeous, thus a perfect fit for the campaign.

Not-so-desperate housewife and Hollywood star Eva Longoria Parker has teamed up with H.E. Butt Grocery (H-E-B) in a move to encourage shoppers to go ‘green’.

“The environment is very important to me and through various initiatives of my own and with partners like H-E-B, I work to educate people about what they can do to save the planet by using less energy, recycling and implementing ‘green’ business and personal practices,” said Longoria Parker, who is also the wife of San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker.
H-E-B produced the spot as part of its Earth Day campaign.
H-E-B sells a line of reusable bags to encourage people to forego having groceries packed in plastic bags. During this campaign, customers also will be able to buy a limited-edition Eva Longoria Parker reusable bag. The bags will sell for $1.49 at H-E-B stores in Texas through April 30, 2009.
