Dior China Pulls Sharon Stone Campaign

Not surprised. Are you? Sharon Stone might have tried to pull back her controversial remarks on the Sichuan earthquake, but that was quite not enough for Dior China to pull off her Dior campaigns.

Dior China said this morning that it’s taking off and recalling all advertisements featuring Stone. Reports say that citizens were ripping down billboards in several locations.

So what was it that Stone said that is causing an uproar in the fashion world? Apparently, it was just this: “I’ve been concerned with how we should deal with the Olympics, because they are not being nice to the Dalai Lama, who is a good friend of mine.

“And then all this earthquake and all this stuff happened and I though, is that karma – when you’re not nice that the bad things happen to you?”

Hmmm… that’s pretty strong, I think. Kinda stuck-up, in the typical basic instinct style, if you know what I mean.

No one has a right to be judgmental about Nature. I don’t think we can, or the right to, decide Nature. She decides us.

And if, and when, a time does arrive when we dictate Nature… I just don’t want to be there.

Jazz Up Your Prom Evening

Well now, this is not really something I should be talking about to very many of my women readers. Then again, over time, reading and writing passionately about celebrities and their inclination when it comes to dresses, I may have something still worthy enough to talk about… or so Zahraine says.

Okay, now, everyone who reads this blog knows I’m in love with Kate Beckinsale, and I think that she’s a goddess. My Zahraine, my girlfriend, doesn’t quite agree with me on that and says she can look as good as Kate when it comes to dresses. Dressing is a matter of taste, she argues, not a thing about 34-24-36. Well, I have my own pattern of thinking what’s stylish and what’s not (my readers will know that I don’t blog what I think is NOT stylish). But Zahraine introduced me to ElegantMart.com, that she swears offers evening dresses to rub shoulders with Kate Beckinsale. Take a look at what they offer:

Evening and prom dresses and gowns from ElegantMart.com

I have to agree that style and color are the real ingredients of any fashion, and I saw that ElegantMart offers some fantastic high end dresses in styles that are undeniably fashionable. The selection on sexy dresses has a typically elegant appeal.

Looking to impress on first sight? I’m talking about the prom, of course. Check out their selection of heart-stopping prom dresses in spectacular designs if you want to stand a chance of being noticed.

Zahraine says its important that you wear your favorite color and design. That’s the only way you can walk around in a prom feeling like a queen, because that’s what make you comfortable, and be yourself. At ElegantMart, you can check out their backless, strapless or floor length prom gowns.

A final tip from Zahraine: Make sure your date’s wearing the bow and tie that matches your prom dress!

Are you all set for slow dancing? Remember that while color and design make fashion, it’s your confidence that brings it alive!

Amy Winehouse Next Louis Vuitton Face?

Looks like Amy Winehouse is finding it hard not to be in the news. First the 5-grammy haul, then announcement of her signature fashion, and now a $1 million gig for luxury goods giant Louis Vuitton.

Amy Winehouse: Next in line for Louis Vuitton?Well, I’m not surprised. Sometimes, more often than not, once you make yourself a name, it starts throwing its own weight. Amy Winehouse was offered $1m for a single appearance at a Louis Vuitton show during Paris Fashion Week.

Last month, she appeared at the London Fashion Week and her rather unique fashion style also earned her a clothes line by Karl Lagerfeld and the title as the newest golden girl in the fashion industry.

True, the girsl has her own style. Last Friday, she wowed the audience filled with celebrities such as Jessica Alba, Kanye West and Rihanna, though pleading, “Forgive my ignorance, I don’t know anything about fashion.”

“I’m available for bookings,” she joked. “If anyone wants me for a wedding or a bar mitzvah. … Well maybe not a wedding. My music’s a little too heartbreak. For a wedding, you need something meeker.”

Georgina, who works in a furniture factory, sounded thrilled while talking to reporters.

She said: “I didn’t know what to expect and I was so excited when I got through to the final. I hated waiting to find out who had won. I didn’t know what to do with myself. I’ve always wanted to be a model, but didn’t know how to go about it.

“Shooting the ads was amazing, but I was very nervous,” she added. “I now want to take every opportunity that comes my way and make the best of it.”

Petra Nemcova Replaces Gemma Atkinson as La Senza Face

Gorgeous Petra Nemcova, former Sports Illustrated cover girl, writer, activist and TV show host is now also the spokesmodel for lingerie maker La Senza.

Petra Nemcova models in La Senza lingerieThe 28-year-old follows the footsteps of former Hollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson
and socialite Sophie Anderton as the latest star to be named the face - and sizzling body - of La Senza’s new Autumn/Winter range.

“Lingerie modelling makes you feel so sexy and good about yourself. I really enjoyed the shoot, there was a fantastic team–we had tons of fun,” said Petra. “Some are sexy, some girly, some comfy and some a bit more risque–but they all make you feel great. My favourite garment was the black push-up bra–it had such great shaping but still has very thin straps.”

La Senza is promoting its “sexy” range, which is made from satin, silk and lace in bold metallic shades and autumnal tones. The campaign will be rolled out across the chain’s 171 UK stores.

After being spotted by a talent scout in Czechoslovakia at 16, Petra has modelled for Vogue, Victoria’s Secret and is a popular Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.

Petra was first spotted by a talent scout in Czechoslovakia at 16 and since then has enjoyed a successful career, but she has also experienced trauma, surviving the 2004 tsunami after clinging to a tree for eight hours.

She has since launched her own charity, Happy Hearts, which raises funds for children affected by the tragedy.

Fergie for KiplingThe 78-piece collection has three lines and the prices range from $38 to $198.

“Since I got three collections, I wanted to hit on three different facets of my personality, of women’s personalities,” said Fergie. “‘Nice Scout,’ which is a nature girl, trying to be green, that whole thing. “I wanted to start something I could afford back in the day. I remember I moved back to my mom’s house, eating her food, and it’s not like because I lived there I lose my sense of fashion. I still wanted to look good, but I couldn’t afford high-end stuff. But I still wanted stuff that was good-quality and fashionable.”

The “Nice Scout” line features bags and satchels in earth tones while “Naughty Scout” is rock ‘n’ roll inspired prints with lots of hardware, and “Dutchess” is essentially evening and weekend bags of luxurious fabrics with leather accents.

“I’ve always been interested in expressing myself creatively, and this is another outlet for that,” added Fergie, real name Stacy Ann Ferguson.

She told the New York Post that she designed and helped conceptualize the styles based on things she liked, such as the utility belts she wears when she shops. As for the fabrics, the samples right out of her closet.
