Supermodel Kate Moss promoted her second fragrance Velvet Hour at the Watergate Club in Berlin last week.
The tag line for the perfume is “Embrace the Night”, and the Mert & Marcusshot ad features a feline Kate Moss luxuriating in a mesmerizing deep blue lamé dress in a deep blue theme.
Fans will recall that Moss launched her first fragrance ‘Simply Kate‘ nearly a year ago, and it hit the top of the celebrity perfume charts like a bazooka.
The Croydon-born beauty, 34, who arrived at the Watergate Club in style, in a flirty grey tweed dress and a pair of T-bar heels, however was a little red-faced as a blonde hair extension fell out and landed on the red carpet.
But that’s no biggie. She’s the Kate Moss…

Platinum-selling diva Mariah Carey has launched her new perfume called ‘Lucious Pink’, following the success of her first fragrance venture called simply ‘M’.
“This scent is feminine, flirtatious and fun, and truly reflects where I am in my life now, after an incredible year,” Carey told WWD. Carey had a whirlwind marriage to rapper Nick Cannon only a few weeks ago.
“Elizabeth Arden has been a fantastic partner and the end creation of Luscious Pink is beyond my expectations,” she added. “The response from my fans with my debut scent was overwhelming, and I can’t wait to see what happens with my second Luscious fragrance.”
Apparently Arden feels the same, according to Ron Rolleston, executive VP of global fragrance marketing.
“Mariah has been an amazing partner,” he said. “She’s been engrossed in the fragrance process and marketing from beginning to end. Everywhere she’s been, she has shared her first fragrance with her audience. She’s done record-setting personal appearances for us. She’s been our best ambassador.
“No one can hit notes any higher than Mariah, and we wanted to use that to inspire us in the creation of the fragrance.”
The Luscious Pink eaux de parfum collection comes in sprays of three sizes — 1 oz. for $39.50, 1.7 oz. for $55 and 3.3 oz. for $65 and as a 6.8-oz. body lotion for $28.
Touted as “a floral melody that is as enveloping as Mariah’s voice,” the new perfume will be topped with Carey’s signature butterfly and is expected to hit the retails soon.

Chanel has put an end to a year-old speculation by confirming Emma Watson as the new face of their fragrance Coco Mademoiselle.
Leading model agency Storm is said to be the force behind the £3million two-year contract between the 18-year-old actress and the giant French fashion house.

Watson–and her character Hermione Granger, both of which became household names in the UK following the success of author JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series–is expected to replace Keira Knightley, 23, whose pact with Coco ends this summer. However, industry sources speculate that Chanel is creating a new role for the latter.
It may be noticed that Watson (who gets £2million a movie), is following in the footsteps of Kate Moss, who had a deal with Chanel in 2003, but was replaced the following year by Knightley.

Designer Jean Paul Gaultier has teamed up with English model Agyness Deyn to launch his first new fragrance in 15 years, called Ma Dame.
Ma Dame is a fresh new fragrance, created for “the daughter”, and one that, according to Jean Paul Gaultier, is “more electric, dynamic and energetic”.
Shot in black and white, the ad portays a besuited, long-haired Agyness, 25, attacking her clothes and her locks with a pair of scissors. Then, the “true” face of the fragrance is revealed, wearing funky shorts and sporting her famous choppy blonde-do.
“She was ballerina and biker, so feminine and masculine,” said Gaultier. “It was a mix of my sensibility, and I knew she was completely the one to represent it.
“It’s my type of woman—at the same time fragile and strong, like a tomboy that is a little androgynous in attitude so, you know, she can cut her hair if she wants.”
Born Laura Hollins, Deyn was hailed as “the fashion industry’s next great supermodel” and has been called an “ambassador of British youth culture” and has been the face of Burberry and Giorgio Armani campaigns.
According to WWD, the scent is set to inject some vigour into the Gaultier women’s fragrance portfolio, with predictions from the industry pointing to sales of $77 million at global retail sales.

British actress Gemma Arteron, who plays Agent Fields in the Bond 22 movie “Quantum of Solace”, has been chosen by Avon to launch the new James Bond Franchise signature fragrance ‘Bond Girl 007′.
Anticipated as what will be the biggest global fragrance launch of the year, Bond Girl 007 is created by Firmenich and contains floral notes, warm woods, white peach, orange blossom, jasmine, calypso orchid and freesia.
While “Quantum of Solace” is scheduled for a November 2008, ‘Bond Girl 007′ is thoughtfully set up to hit the retailers a month earlier.
So what does the new 22-year-old Bond babe have to say about this signature perfume?
“I’m thrilled to be working with two such iconic and established brands,” said Gemma Arterton. “The Bond Girl 007 fragrance embodies everything a Bond Girl represents — intelligence, sexiness and confidence.”
Intelligence, sexiness and confidence, huh. Explosive combo there.
Okay, here’s what I think about the name of the perfume. Bond Girl 007. So which kind of girl–or woman–are Avon targeting? I’d eat airline food to find out what they found in their survey. Would the typical customer would be the wanna-be Bond girl yet in her teens or the blissfully married 30’s woman, who’s looking back and wondering what she might have missed out?
What do you think? I’d love to know, so would all my readers.

French actress Audrey Tautou will endorse Chanel’s classic No.5 fragrance next year, replacing current spokesperson Nicole Kidman.
Tautou, 29, will reunite with director Jean-Pierre Jeunet for the advertising blitz, which is said to be a short film campaign, a short film just like her predecessor’s ad with Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrman. The “Da Vinci Code” star and Jeunet have worked together before in the 2001 award-winning film “Amelie” and “The Long Engagement.”
Audrey fans will recall that she was cast as Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in a French movie depicting the fashion designer’s life before she attained fame. Coco Chanel (1883-1971) made such an impact on the fashion world that she was included in TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people of the 20th Century.

Evangeline Lilly is the new Davidoff Cool Water woman.
Lilly, 28, has signed the deal to promote new perfume for Coty Prestige worldwide, except the US (no comments available on that as of writing), starting well before this Fall.
“Cool Water Woman definitely represents the juxtaposition between purity and sensuality, and there’s that sort of fresh newness,” said the superfit Lily. “On top of it, there’s strength that’s underneath it all, that is where sensuality comes from—versus just pure sexiness.”
My readers will recall I blogged Lilly’s LOST co-star, Josh Holloway’s pact to be Davidoff’s men’s fragrance.
Other celebs to sign on with Coty include Halle Berry, Celine Dion, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez and Sarah Jessica Parker—all of whom have signature fragrance deals.

Emmy, Golden Globe and Academy Award winning actress Halle Berry has signed a perfume development agreement with beauty giant Coty.
Coty Inc. is well known for teaming up with top celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, David and Victoria Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker, Shania Twain, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, Kate Moss and Tim McGraw for the creation of signature scents.
“Halle is an iconic actress and symbolizes beauty to many generations,” Steve Mormoris, senior vice president of global marketing at Coty Beauty US, told WWD.com. “She adds another dimension to the celebrity fragrance market. Halle has always been a little more mysterious, not quite as open with her personal life as some other stars. Her fragrances will allow her to present another facet of her personality to her fans.”
The deal involves Halle Berry, 41, developing a fragrance portfolio as well as endorsing it in advertisements.
Mormoris said that the first Berry fragrance products are expected to launch globally in spring 2009, in stores such as J.C. Penney, and then will move into the mass market. “We’re committed to developing a project that will bring luxury to the mass market,” he said. “We want to bring vitality to that market, with projects that consumers find compelling.”
It may be recalled that Jessica Alba signed a $5 million deal last year to be the face of Revlon’s 3D Extreme Mascara. However, financial details of the Berry deal are as yet undisclosed.
Berry has received Emmy and Golden Globe awards for ‘Introducing Dorothy Dandridge’,and an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2002 for her performance in ‘Monster’s Ball’, becoming the only woman of African-American descent to have won the award for Best Actress. She is also a Revlon spokesperson.

Grammy-winning singer Shakira has signed a worldwide agreement to create a signature line of beauty products with Barcelona-based Puig Beauty & Fashion Group.
Shakira will develop fragrances and other beauty and personal care products teaming up with Puig.

“I am very excited to be able to express myself through another creative medium. My feeling is that personal care and beauty should be effortless and accessible for everyone,” said the 31-year-old Colombian-born rocker.
The move by Puig doesn’t really come as no surprise since the Group has previously developed perfumes fronted by actor Antonio Banderas, as well as designer fragrances Carolina Herrera, Paco Rabanne and Nina Ricci. The Puig Group, with a presence in more than 150 countries, will also act as the sole global distributor of the products and create strategic marketing alliances.
As for the songbird and entrepreneur, whose name in Arabic means “woman full of grace”, Shakira is also the creator of the Barefoot Foundation, dedicated to the improvement of educational and social conditions for families and children in her home country. She is continuing the good work by selling some of her personal belongings on eBay for her children’s charity.
Recently, a fan paid £1,500 for a Roberto Cavalli jewelled bra that Shakira wore on her Oral Fixation world tour in 2007.
