Designer Jean Paul Gaultier has teamed up with English model Agyness Deyn to launch his first new fragrance in 15 years, called Ma Dame.
Ma Dame is a fresh new fragrance, created for “the daughter”, and one that, according to Jean Paul Gaultier, is “more electric, dynamic and energetic”.
Shot in black and white, the ad portays a besuited, long-haired Agyness, 25, attacking her clothes and her locks with a pair of scissors. Then, the “true” face of the fragrance is revealed, wearing funky shorts and sporting her famous choppy blonde-do.
“She was ballerina and biker, so feminine and masculine,” said Gaultier. “It was a mix of my sensibility, and I knew she was completely the one to represent it.
“It’s my type of woman—at the same time fragile and strong, like a tomboy that is a little androgynous in attitude so, you know, she can cut her hair if she wants.”
Born Laura Hollins, Deyn was hailed as “the fashion industry’s next great supermodel” and has been called an “ambassador of British youth culture” and has been the face of Burberry and Giorgio Armani campaigns.
According to WWD, the scent is set to inject some vigour into the Gaultier women’s fragrance portfolio, with predictions from the industry pointing to sales of $77 million at global retail sales.

British actress Gemma Arteron, who plays Agent Fields in the Bond 22 movie “Quantum of Solace”, has been chosen by Avon to launch the new James Bond Franchise signature fragrance ‘Bond Girl 007′.
Anticipated as what will be the biggest global fragrance launch of the year, Bond Girl 007 is created by Firmenich and contains floral notes, warm woods, white peach, orange blossom, jasmine, calypso orchid and freesia.
While “Quantum of Solace” is scheduled for a November 2008, ‘Bond Girl 007′ is thoughtfully set up to hit the retailers a month earlier.
So what does the new 22-year-old Bond babe have to say about this signature perfume?
“I’m thrilled to be working with two such iconic and established brands,” said Gemma Arterton. “The Bond Girl 007 fragrance embodies everything a Bond Girl represents — intelligence, sexiness and confidence.”
Intelligence, sexiness and confidence, huh. Explosive combo there.
Okay, here’s what I think about the name of the perfume. Bond Girl 007. So which kind of girl–or woman–are Avon targeting? I’d eat airline food to find out what they found in their survey. Would the typical customer would be the wanna-be Bond girl yet in her teens or the blissfully married 30’s woman, who’s looking back and wondering what she might have missed out?
What do you think? I’d love to know, so would all my readers.

French actress Audrey Tautou will endorse Chanel’s classic No.5 fragrance next year, replacing current spokesperson Nicole Kidman.
Tautou, 29, will reunite with director Jean-Pierre Jeunet for the advertising blitz, which is said to be a short film campaign, a short film just like her predecessor’s ad with Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrman. The “Da Vinci Code” star and Jeunet have worked together before in the 2001 award-winning film “Amelie” and “The Long Engagement.”
Audrey fans will recall that she was cast as Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in a French movie depicting the fashion designer’s life before she attained fame. Coco Chanel (1883-1971) made such an impact on the fashion world that she was included in TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people of the 20th Century.

Evangeline Lilly is the new Davidoff Cool Water woman.
Lilly, 28, has signed the deal to promote new perfume for Coty Prestige worldwide, except the US (no comments available on that as of writing), starting well before this Fall.
“Cool Water Woman definitely represents the juxtaposition between purity and sensuality, and there’s that sort of fresh newness,” said the superfit Lily. “On top of it, there’s strength that’s underneath it all, that is where sensuality comes from—versus just pure sexiness.”
My readers will recall I blogged Lilly’s LOST co-star, Josh Holloway’s pact to be Davidoff’s men’s fragrance.
Other celebs to sign on with Coty include Halle Berry, Celine Dion, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez and Sarah Jessica Parker—all of whom have signature fragrance deals.

Emmy, Golden Globe and Academy Award winning actress Halle Berry has signed a perfume development agreement with beauty giant Coty.
Coty Inc. is well known for teaming up with top celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, David and Victoria Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker, Shania Twain, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, Kate Moss and Tim McGraw for the creation of signature scents.
“Halle is an iconic actress and symbolizes beauty to many generations,” Steve Mormoris, senior vice president of global marketing at Coty Beauty US, told WWD.com. “She adds another dimension to the celebrity fragrance market. Halle has always been a little more mysterious, not quite as open with her personal life as some other stars. Her fragrances will allow her to present another facet of her personality to her fans.”
The deal involves Halle Berry, 41, developing a fragrance portfolio as well as endorsing it in advertisements.
Mormoris said that the first Berry fragrance products are expected to launch globally in spring 2009, in stores such as J.C. Penney, and then will move into the mass market. “We’re committed to developing a project that will bring luxury to the mass market,” he said. “We want to bring vitality to that market, with projects that consumers find compelling.”
It may be recalled that Jessica Alba signed a $5 million deal last year to be the face of Revlon’s 3D Extreme Mascara. However, financial details of the Berry deal are as yet undisclosed.
Berry has received Emmy and Golden Globe awards for ‘Introducing Dorothy Dandridge’,and an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2002 for her performance in ‘Monster’s Ball’, becoming the only woman of African-American descent to have won the award for Best Actress. She is also a Revlon spokesperson.

Grammy-winning singer Shakira has signed a worldwide agreement to create a signature line of beauty products with Barcelona-based Puig Beauty & Fashion Group.
Shakira will develop fragrances and other beauty and personal care products teaming up with Puig.

“I am very excited to be able to express myself through another creative medium. My feeling is that personal care and beauty should be effortless and accessible for everyone,” said the 31-year-old Colombian-born rocker.
The move by Puig doesn’t really come as no surprise since the Group has previously developed perfumes fronted by actor Antonio Banderas, as well as designer fragrances Carolina Herrera, Paco Rabanne and Nina Ricci. The Puig Group, with a presence in more than 150 countries, will also act as the sole global distributor of the products and create strategic marketing alliances.
As for the songbird and entrepreneur, whose name in Arabic means “woman full of grace”, Shakira is also the creator of the Barefoot Foundation, dedicated to the improvement of educational and social conditions for families and children in her home country. She is continuing the good work by selling some of her personal belongings on eBay for her children’s charity.
Recently, a fan paid £1,500 for a Roberto Cavalli jewelled bra that Shakira wore on her Oral Fixation world tour in 2007.

Hollywood seamstress Eva Mendes has signed a three-year deal with Calvin Klein to promote their as-yet-unnamed women’s perfume.
With this, the 29-year-old actress joins the ranks of Scarlett Johansson, Kate Moss and Christy Turlington, who have earlier acted as spokespersons for Calvin Klein.
“We’ve been looking at Eva [at Coty] for awhile, not just for Calvin,” said Catherine Walsh, senior vice president of American Fragrances for Coty Prestige. “Her awareness and likability have been on the rise since 2003 — she consistently generates a very positive response. Both men and women find her incredibly attractive, fit and sexy. And because her awareness is growing worldwide, we are planning this fragrance as a global launch.”
The advertising campaign is likely to launch in this Fall. Ms Walsh added that Mendes will also do personal appearances globally for the fragrances.
To Mendes, the role should come naturally — she was a Revlon spokesmodel for a few years, and has been a fan of Calvin Klein gowns, wearing them often at red carpet events.
Fans will recall that only a couple of months ago Eva Mendes posed nude for PETA’s winter anti-fur campaign, ‘I’d Rather Go Naked’. Here’s a reminder:

The fashion world is abuzz with rumours that the girl with ‘the world’s coolest ancestry’ could be the next face of Chanel.
Move over, Kidman. Fifteen-year-old Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of Courtney Love and passed Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain, has apparently accepted an offer to promote the French house this year, according to sources at Models Blog.
Frances, who was recently in the news denying reports that she is dating Jack Osbourne, is said to be “overwhelmed” by the prospect, but is looking forward to “what the CHANEL experience may offer.”

French cosmetics giant L’Oréal has announced that doe-eyed beauty Anne Hathaway will be the face of Lancôme’s as-yet unrevealed latest fragrance.
Ending months of speculation, the company has confirmed that the Brokeback Mountain star will front the scent due to be launched the coming Fall.
“Anne Hathaway is a radiant young woman who perfectly embodies modern femininity,” said Lancôme International president Odile Roujol in a statement. “We know she will portray all the passion and excitement of our new fragrance, to be launched throughout the world in September 2008.”
With this, the fashion-inclined ‘Devil Wears Prada’ will step into the shoes of Kate Winslet, Uma Thurman and Clive Owen, who have previously fronted Lancôme. Industry circles also opine that Anne’s appointment to this role is also a as bid to appeal to a wider and younger market, a trend gaining momentum, most recently with Keira Knightley’s endorsement of Chanel.
However, we’ll see the 25-year-old star well before the launch of Lancôme ads as Agent 99 in the big screen version of ‘Get Smart’, opposite Steve Carell, scheduled for release in June 2008. Anne Hathaway has also signed to star in romantic comedy ‘Bride wars’, opposite Kate Hudson, which centers around two best friends who become rivals overnight when they realize that they’ve scheduled their weddings for the same day.

Nicole Kidman won an apology and ’substantial’ damages from the Daily Telegraph over an article that falsely claimed that the face of Chanel No 5 had promoted a rival brand.
The Hawaii-born Australian actress had sued the British newspaper last month over the story which said she’d been openly publicizing perfume Jo Malone, despite having signed a multimillion pound contract with Chanel.
The newspaper has apologized and agreed to pay Kidman’s legal costs as well as undisclosed damages.
The 40-year-old Oscar winner was not at the High Court in London for the settlement. Her lawyer John Kelly told London’s High Court that the article suggested she had acted in an ‘unprofessional and disloyal manner’ by brazenly snubbing Chanel, and indicating she could not be trusted to honor her contractual agreements.
He said Telegraph Media Group Ltd now accepted the allegations were untrue and had established that the source of the article had invented the story.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph’s David Price, told the court that the paper “accepts the allegations are untrue and ought never to have been published”.
Kelly said that Kidman is intending to donate the damages to the United Nations Development Fund for Women for which she acts as a goodwill ambassador. It may be recalled that Kidman headed a UN global campaign last month aimed at stopping violence against women.
