Bollywood star Katrina Kaif was announced as the new spokesperson for India’s top diamond jewelry label Nakshatra.
With this, Hong Kong-born Kaif replaces another Bollywood legend Aishwarya Rai, who had represented the brand since its launch in 2000. The Nakshatra diamond jewelry, available in three collections, is famous for use of floral designs in 18 kt gold with multiple diamonds encircling a single large diamond to signify the constellation effect.
“Katrina is the perfect representation of the young, trendy and fashionable woman that Nakshatra targets. She lends a refreshing look to the brand, and we are excited to have her as the new face of Nakshatra,” said Mehul Choksi, Nakshatra Group chairman.
“I am delighted to be associated with a brand like Nakshatra that has garnered immence popularity not only in India but worldwide,” said Katrina. “I hope this association is amiable and mutually profitable.”
But how come former Miss Universe Aishwarya Rai was dropped? She wasn’t, according to her hubby Abhishek Bachchan. (He’s the brand ambassador of Omega watches.)
“Nakshatra was discontinued by Aishwarya. It is false news that she lost out the endorsement to Katrina Kaif. Aishwarya had some conditions and the company did not come to terms with this, so she called it off,” Abhishek told IANS (Indo-Asian News Service).
Katrina, 24, was recently adjudged ‘the sexiest woman in the world‘ in an online poll conducted by UK’s FHM.

Sterling silver. The very name evokes feelings of elegance, flamboyance and even celebrity inspired style. When I read about the penchant for silver jewellery of top celebs like Mary-Louise Parker, Ashlee Simpson, Cher and Mischa Barton, I also wonder while sterling sterling silver is beautiful, how affordable is it?
It was then I discovered keysilver.co.uk. This online silver jewellery company has been in operation just more than a couple of years, but is growing from strength to strength offering an assortment of top quality jewellery at very affordable prices. The entire range has a minimum millesimal fineness of .925, which just refers to its high quality (min. 92.5% pure silver). And that’s just about as good as it can get!
The website presents an extremely user-friendly interface with a rather minimalist design which actually lets you focus on the jewellery piece rather than fancy site embellishments. What I particularly liked was that there’s no ambiguity about what they offer. Broadly, the offerings include bangles, bracelets, necklaces and pendants.
Each section has thumbnails of the designs along with a brief description, which you can click to view the images in larger detail as well as get more information on the item. For instance, browsing through the silver bracelets section, I clicked on the “Silver bracelet with coloured hearts decorated with flowers” and learned it has a heart loop and bar fixing. It could very well be a fun summer accessory!
And so with the sterling silver pendants. Browsing through this category, I found an extremely creative selection in some of the latest styles. However, I couldn’t help but feel the styles are a bit Oriental. It’s fine if you like Thai jewellery, because several pieces have a hint of intricate Far East design. Then again, you’ll also find elegantly simple, yet mesmerising designs like the Black Spinel Heart Pendant shown here.
You may not be able to find the silver pendants in retail stores since, firstly, they are not produced in bulk (which adds to their uniqueness factor) and secondly, they are sourced direct from jewellery makers in Thailand. The pendants also come with a standard 16-inch silver chain, but you have the option to choose a longer length.
Key Silver claims to process and ship orders within 24 hours because all the jewellery listed on the website is stocked in in-house. The UK company ships worldwide and delivery is free.

Diamonds Are For Paris

Obviously not satisfied with the success of “The Row”, their designer apparel brand, the Olsen twins are broadening their horizon with fashion jewelry design.
Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen have teamed up with Robert Lee Morris to create a range of accessories under their Elizabeth and James brand. It may be recalled that Robert Lee Morris is an award winner of the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Industry sources report that the the 21-year-olds are working closely with Morris (of whom they are both big fans too) and ransacking his designs for inspiration before finalizing their own line.
According to WWD, the line will consist of “silver and brass dagger necklaces, amorphous knuckle rings and edgy earrings,” but knowing the entrepreneurship of the twins, I’d expect a whole wider range.
However, you may yet have to wait a few months before you can see the “Robert Lee Morris for Elizabeth and James” collection at your favorite retail store.

Los Angeles-based Giantto Group has announced that supermodel Joanna Krupa will be the face of its worldwide campaign for the launch and expansion of the Giantto timepiece and Von Dutch Watch collection.
Earlier last week, Joanna Krupa made an appearance at The Giantto Group booth at the JCK exhibition, as well as hosted an exclusive VIP event at The Bank nightclub in the Bellagio Hotel.
The Giantto Group also debuted new high-end jewelry line including the necklace featured on VH1’s “Rock of Love” and unveiled its top-of-the-line Giantto timepiece collection, such as the all-new rose gold T7, while also revealing its Swarovski Crystal Spiral series (Von Dutch Watch collection).
Joanna, 29, has graced the covers of Maxim, GQ and FHM while also having posed nude in the July 2005 issue of Playboy. She also did a nude photoshoot for animal rights group PETA, for which she has been quoted as saying, “There is nothing sexy about wearing something that is so obviously tied to senseless pain and killing.”

Gucci has confirmed Stardust star Claire Danes as the new face its new fine jewelry campaign.
To be frank, I fell in love with Claire with Brokedown Palace (1999) and haven’t since missed a single opportunity to see her in a news show or in a movie… and now to see her in Gucci jewelry! Hmm… that ought to make Zahraine jealous.
Claire, now 29, will dazzle in a series of print campaigns for the Italian fashion house, taking over from Drew Barrymore, who acted as the spokesperson for the brand the last two years.
“Claire Danes is a modern icon. For me she is one of the most interesting young actresses on the international scene,” Gucci creative director Frida Giannini told fashionweekdaily.com. “She is very natural, fresh, and has a carefree attitude which can also be seen in the roles she has chosen. Claire’s sensual, confident beauty and her passionate, independent and strong character embodies today’s Gucci woman.”
And this is what Claire had to say: “I am thrilled and honored to be working with Gucci on their jewelry campaign. Frida is a very inspiring and creative woman. Her vision is extraordinary and I am excited to be a part of it.”
And oh, for Claire’s fans just like me, she recently finished filming her star role in Richard Linklater’s “Me and Orson Welles” in the UK. Wink.

Reality TV socialite Nicole Richie has revealed that she’ll be launching her own jewelry brand.
The 26-year-old first-time mum has teamed up with Mouawad, the same name behind supermodel Heidi Klum’s jewelry line, to design a collection of mix ‘n’ match costume jewelry.
“It’s all costume jewelry. I like to play with jewelry and mix and match. I’m working with this really talented woman named Shelley Gibbs. She’s an artist and she sketches everything,” Richie told People Magazine.
“Everyone’s been really mellow and able to work around my schedule. If I need to go feed the baby, I do it.”
Talking about her newborn daughter Harlow Winter with boyfriend Joel Madden, Richie said, “She gives life a whole new meaning and a whole new purpose.”
Nicole is also an author, actress and singer, who’s also launching a children’s clothing line and insiders say a signature perfume is also in the works.

Hollywood actress Bridget Moynahan’s new campaign for jeweler Diamonair has just been published.
