Sara Carbonero is the New Face of Pantene

Drop-dead gorgeous Spanish TV presenter Sara Carbonero will now stand for something more glamorous than just sports news – she’s been chosen to represent Pantene Pro-V, the leading hair care brand in Spain.

Girlfriend of Spain’s national football team Iker Casillas, who led his team to Spain’s first ever FIFA World Cup, the 26-year-old cutie was recently voted The Sexiest Reporter in the World by FHM USA.

Some say it was Casillas’ unexpected kiss on live TV that catapulted her into celebrity status, but I don’t quite agree. Anyone who’s so lovely as Sara just can’t avoid fame! And scoring goals with the world’s top brands, either.

Good luck, Sara. I’m so glad we’ll be seeing more of you.

Maria Sharapova to Dazzle in Tiffany at Wimbledon

Tennis champion Maria Sharapova will serve something besides tennis balls at the upcoming Wimbledon Championships. Watch the sports celebrity dazzling earrings by Tiffany designer Elsa Peretti.

The three-time Grand Slam winner also wore Elsa Peretti earrings at the French Open which ended recently at the Roland Garros Stadium in Paris.

The earrings selected for Wimbledon are a sterling silver design from Elsa Peretti’s Diamonds by the Yard collection. Introduced in 1974, the collection features modern jewelry design, with fine chains and bezel-set stones.

The 23-year-old former world number one said:

“Wearing Diamonds by the Yard on the court is a perfect example of how Elsa Peretti made diamonds fashionable anytime and anywhere.

“It’s a pleasure to wear her signature of elegant simplicity.”

Pegah Goldooz, general manager of Tiffany in the Middle East, said: “Sharapova’s association with Tiffany shows the trust of top global celebrities for the brand.”

“She has displayed a dynamic sense of style on and off the court thus it is only natural for her to support Elsa Peretti earrings that have instantly put the quality of her game and Tiffany’s reputation as an iconic jewellery house in the spotlight,” Goldooz added.

The partnership between Sharapova and Tiffany covers the four Grand Slam events: the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.

The 2010 Wimbledon Championships will start on June 21 and run until July 4 at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

Ana Ivanovic Spices Up SI’s Swimsuit 2010 Issue

Former World No. 1 tennis hottie Ana Ivanovic has used her celebrity status as well as her lithe figure to boost the brand image of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit 2010 issue.

Ivanovic, 22, posed in a variety of tennis props, wrapping herself in a tennis net as well as spreading out in a bed of pink tennis balls — all shot by renowned photographer Marlena Bielinska in New York. Ana was one of the several female athletes featured in the SI issue, but for Ana, who has modeled before, this was the first SI appearance.

The Serbian tennis star was seeded 20th at the 2010 Australian Open, where she reached the second round where she lost Gisela Dulko 6–7(6), 7–5, 6–4. Ivanovic’s next tennis appearance will be at the 2010 BNP Paribas Open, in Indian Wells, California, from March 8 through March 21.

Gillette cuts Tiger Woods from ads

Golf world number one Tiger Woods will not be shaving with top shaving brand Gillette any more soon — at least not in advertisements.

As Woods’ public announcement of ‘infidelity’ towards wife Elin Nordegren picked up momentum yesterday, Boston-based Gillette, a unit of Procter & Gamble, became the first company to cancel the sponsorship, dealing what could be the first blow to the golfer’s $1 billion corporate empire.

However, the word is Gillette is not hacking all ties with Woods.

“Tiger is still part of Gillette,” said Gillette spokesman Mike Norton. “We support him as he takes a break from his professional career and that’s why we’re supporting him by limiting his role in our marketing programs.”

That appears to be fair enough, but what surfaces now is the question about how Woods’ other sponsors will react? Will Gillette’s decision to ‘temporarily’ stop using Woods set off similar knee jerk reactions in other top sponsors such as General Motors, Titleist, General Mills, American Express, Accenture, Nike, Gatorade… ?

Maria Sharapova Debuts Signature Fashion Collection by Cole Haan

Tennis celebrity Maria Sharapova has unveiled her Maria Sharapova by Cole Haan collection of handbags and footwear at Rockefeller Center in New York City.

The triple Grand Slam winner (Wimbledon 2004, US Open 2006 & Australian Open 2008) apparently came up with her own fashion designs while she was recouping from a shoulder injury and skipped the tennis route for a while.

Sharapova’s collaboration with fashion brand Cole Haan, which was announced last year, began with sketches, mood boards, and inspirations from the tennis star. Maria infused aspects of her playful personality into every detail of the line from the polished buckles of the shoes, to the leather wrapped chain straps of the handbags.

The Maria Sharapova by Cole Haan footwear collection, featuring Nike Air technology, includes a ballet flat, an ankle-wrapped stiletto, a flat over-the-knee boot, an ankle bootie and a strappy platform sandal. Prices start at $138, going up to $328.

The handbag collection includes a small frame clutch, a lambskin hobo, and Maria’s signature chain-link satchel in a range of eye-catching colors. Each silhouette is characterized by an oversized pleating detail, creating a luxe, yet casual feel. Prices range from $248 for a convertible clutch to $428 for a lambskin hobo.

The tennis star-cum-fashion designer, who’s 6-foot-2 tall, and yet loves wearing stiletto, said:

“It’s my hope that other young women will embrace the spirit of the collection; it’s fun, chic, fashionable and most importantly, able to take you from day to night.”

“Everyone loves Maria. It’s great to be working with her and adding a new dimension to Cole Haan’s history,” said Jim Seuss, CEO of Cole Haan, a subsidiary of Nike.

Seeded 29 at the US Open 2009, Sharapova will be playing unseeded Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria, on the first round at Flushing Meadows next week.
