Brazilian catwalk golden girl Gisele Bundchen is replacing model Petra Nemcova in Rampage’s spring/summer 2009 ad campaign.

Rampage, makers of dresses, sportswear, footwear, lingerie, and accessories, has hired the world’s highest paid supermodel to front their clothing for the next two years.
“Gisele was so involved with these shots,” said Dari Marder, chief marketing officer for Rampage. “She epitomizes the Rampage woman – beautiful, sexy, confident and independent.
“It was interesting to see what she picked out to wear — these pieces were some of our bestsellers. She picked the photographer, the hair stylist, makeup artist and she helped us craft the campaign, which is very unique for us.”
“What I like about Rampage is that it works for everyone,” was what Bündchen, 28, had to say about the junior sportswear brand.
The worldwide campaign will hit us with a bang on a Times Square billboard in April and later thru fashion glossies such as Cosmopolitan, In Style and Marie Claire.

Sky Sports presenter Lee McKenzie has become the first woman to represent Formula One (F1) on BBC TV.
The newsmaking journalist, who presented for ITV and launched the Horse Racing channel At the Races, has signed a £2million deal to report F1 action from the pit stop, come February.
“I’m very excited,” said McKenzie, 31. “It’s a tremendous opportunity and something I’ve worked towards throughout my career. I know a lot of the drivers already and I’m looking forward to working with them.”
Former Grand Prix celebrity David Coulthard will be joining McKenzie, who’s already a recognizable face in the Formula One scene, popular with champion drivers such as champion Lewis Hamilton, Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso.
Come to think of it, F1 just got a bit more racy:

Snowboarding legend and Olympic silver medalist Gretchen Bleiler has teamed up with Oakley, Inc. to create her signature collection which includes technical outerwear, lifestyle apparel and accessories.
Designs include features that Gretchen looks for in her gear, such as the button system added to the back of the pant leg to keep it from dragging, and the asymmetrical zipper on the jacket with leather snaps and a removable fur-trim on the hood. The pants are low-rise and boot-cut with a belt to accessorize. The range has a designer touch and is said to impart a relaxed performance fit.

“This collection mirrors snow sports themselves — it’s a little racier than downhill skiing, a little bolder than cross-country but respectful of the power of the mountain and the heritage of mountain sports,” said the 27-year-old halfpipe snowboarder.
“I wanted to create clothing I would be excited to wear, and something entirely new that could take me from daily riding to just chillin’,” Bleiler continued. “That desire was fulfilled for instance by the beanies which fit under helmets but also can be worn around town, as well as a long sweater that can be worn as a base layer and still adds feminine flair off the mountain.”
The Gretchen Bleiler Signature Series collection will be available online as well as at select retail stores. For more information including pricing, check out oakley.com/women/gbcollection.

Triple Grand Slam winner Maria Sharapova has been named as a collaborator and the new face of Cole Haan Sporting, a new fashion-and-sports line for Spring 2009.
Cole Haan, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nike, will include men’s and women’s footwear and accessories ranging from flats and boat shoes to duffel bags and tennis racquet bags. The line will retail in Cole Haan boutiques worldwide, department stores and on colehaan.com with prices ranging from $115 to $200 for footwear and $225 to $550 for accessories.
“My designs will be next fall, so I’m very excited,” said Sharapova, 21, who missed this year’s US Open due to a shoulder injury. “Ever since I was young I loved making things and being part of the design process.
“I’m not coming into the company to make the Maria pump,” she added. “I’m there to add that really young touch and flavor to it.”
I think mixing fashion and sport is a smart and logical move. With several international sports heroes, action sports are hotter than ever. Add some glamour and sex appeal, and hey, there’s only one way it can go – UP.
