Hollywood star Nia Long is going to long(-legged) lengths to save the animals — even posing in a subway car completely nude to make her point that she’d “rather go naked than wear fur”.
Long is the latest celebrity to hop in on the PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) bandwagon in their movement against cruelty to animals. She’s just saying that you ought to be comfortable in your own skin rather than in an animal’s.
In an exclusive interview with PETA, Long said:
“When I became a mother, I started to really understand the importance of all living creatures in a way that I didn’t ever think about before. And I’ve realized how important it is that we really take responsibility for … treating animals with love and care just like we would any human being. There’s no difference, in my opinion, between fur and slavery or the Holocaust. It’s just that we’re not dealing wth human beings, we’re dealing with animals, but it’s still a living thing.”
“In being a responsible adult and really understanding what happens for one fur coat and how many animals are killed and slaughtered for one fur coat, it just isn’t worth it to me,” the 38-year-old star added.
Well, now if she were to pose LIVE on the subway — rather than as a badly photoshopped image in a print magazine — her message would have reached a much wider audience… and if it’s NYC subway, to at least 5 million people on a typical weekday.
