Kohl’s has announced its partnership with Canadian rock star Avril Lavigne to launch Abbey Dawn, an exclusive juniors apparel brand.
The first line of Abbey Dawn, blending authentic rock ‘n’ roll touch with a feminine edge will include apparel and jewelry priced between $24 to $48. The second line features a fusion of ska, reggae and skater with a balance of traditional tartan plaids, checks and stripes. More accessories are expected to be added later. The back-to-school collection is said to lean heavily on designs from Lavigne’s own closet.

“Abbey Dawn will aspire to be a unique and accessible reflection of my ever-changing style,” Lavigne said in a press release. “I’m so excited to be launching exclusively in the U.S. at Kohl’s for back-to-school 2008.”
“Avril Lavigne is an accomplished artist with a dedicated fan base who appeals to a broad group of shoppers,” said Don Brennan, Kohl’s senior executive VP. “We’re excited to launch Abbey Dawn, which will offer new affordable fashion collections every 60 days, further differentiating Kohl’s in the marketplace.”
Lavigne, 23, has sold more than 30 million albums and 18 million tracks worldwide, and commands a certain level of rock ’n’ roll royalty. She hit the music scene in 2002 with “Let Go”, which featured smash singles “Sk8r Boi” and “Complicated.” “Let Go” has earned Lavigne eight Grammy nominations and has sold more than 16 million copies worldwide.
