Supermodel Claudia Schiffer is back in modeling for her ‘mentor’ Chanel boss Karl Lagerfield fronting a new campaign for Chanel’s ready-to-wear spring/summer 2008 collection.
With this campaign, Schiffer replaces Freja Beha Erichsen as Chanel’s face, but industry experts expected that Coco Rocha, would be the latest face to front Chanel.
Karl Lagerfeld picked Schiffer to be the face of the company 20 years ago, a deal which brought instant fame to the supermodel, reports the Daily Mail. The 37-year-old German model finished a three-day photo shoot for the colection in St Tropez in the South of France.
Schiffer was seen posing on the beach in an array of of outfits, including a see-through gown, a flared cat suit covered in stars as well as a tightly fitting blue jacket. She even got creative enough to hold an artist’s palette and paint the word Chanel on the bare of a male model.
The 36-year-old supermodel and actress stormed the fashion scene as one of the most successful world supermodels with more than 500 covers inluding Elle, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan. Schiffer set catwalks on fire wearing only the most prestigious designer names such as Versace, Jil Sander, D&G and Valentino. Her contracts as the face of cosmetic giants Revlon, L’Oreal and Pepsi were worth at least two million dollars each.
