St. John has chosen Ethiopian supermodel Liya Kebede over Hollywood star Angelina Jolie for its Spring 2009 fashion line campaign.
Kebede, 31, who moved to Paris at the age of 18, has since then appeared twice on the cover of US Vogue besides gracing the covers of Italian, Japanese, French and Spanish Vogue, and taking on the role of spokesperson for several top brands such as Gap, Yves Saint-Laurent, Victoria’s Secret, Emanuel Ungaro, Tommy Hilfiger, Revlon, Dolce & Gabbana, Escada and Louis Vuitton.
According to Forbes, Kebede was eleventh highest-paid model last year with an earning of $2.5 million (with Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen topping the list at $33 million).
