French actress Audrey Tautou will endorse Chanel’s classic No.5 fragrance next year, replacing current spokesperson Nicole Kidman.
Tautou, 29, will reunite with director Jean-Pierre Jeunet for the advertising blitz, which is said to be a short film campaign, a short film just like her predecessor’s ad with Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrman. The “Da Vinci Code” star and Jeunet have worked together before in the 2001 award-winning film “Amelie” and “The Long Engagement.”
Audrey fans will recall that she was cast as Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in a French movie depicting the fashion designer’s life before she attained fame. Coco Chanel (1883-1971) made such an impact on the fashion world that she was included in TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people of the 20th Century.
