Christina Applegate has stepped out of her way (and her clothes) to convince holiday buyers not to buy fur during the gift giving season.
In support of animal rigts group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the vegetarian actress wears nothing but a pair of festive gloves, a necklace and a smile in an e-card. Her campaign slogan goes, “Cross cruelty off your shopping list by avoiding fur coats, collars and cuffs - unless it’s fake of course.”

Addressing those planning on buying a fur item for a gift, the Sweetest Thing star tells PETA: “They make really great synthetic fur—you really don’t need real fur. And it’s cheaper, so why spend the money?
“The holidays are also a time when people freak out about their finances. If you don’t want to spend the money, why not try some of the other options instead of killing a bunch of animals?”
Christina, who is a vegetarian and animal lover told PEOPLE that her house ‘has been basically a zoo’ since childhood. She said, “Everything I have has dog hair on it, and that’s just the way it is.”
The 35-year-old actress, who’s currently starring in the new hit show ‘Samantha Who?’, also said she decided to become a vegetarian while she was still a teenager on the set of her U.S. TV sitcom, “Married…With Children.”
“I realized I can’t eat something that has been alive. So I stopped, and that was it. That was the last time,” she added.
Christina joins the ranks of Alicia Silverstone, Alyssa Milano, Maggie Q and Dominique Swain in stripping off for the charity movement.
