Hollywood star Samuel L Jackson has been named as the new face of British cable TV company Virgin Media’s latest TV advertising campaign.
Jackson is taking over the role to promote the telecommunications brand from fekkow ‘Pulp Fiction’ star Uma Thurman.
The ads are designed to show Virgin Media leading the TV revolution by publicizing the company’s Video on Demand content as to how it lets people watch what they want on TV, and when then want it. It will also showcase Catch-Up-TV, a service which allows customers to watch TV programs they might have missed in the last seven days. The On Demand service is said to have more than 4,300 hours of TV time, including a database of 5,000 movies.
“We are extremely excited about working with Samuel for our new ad campaign, as he has such massive appeal with young and old alike,” said James Kydd, Virgin Media’s managing director of brand and marketing. “He is the epitome of cool and is an unmistakeably powerful narrator who never fails to grab the attention of the viewer. We couldn’t think of anyone better to talk about the best TV service in the UK.”
Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winner Samuel Leroy Jackson, 59, has appeared in over sixty films is currently starring in six films that will debut this year and in 2009. Jackson’s most recent movie is ‘Jumper’, released last month.
